Last Friday at 11pm, I saw a parent on the Strip with a kid in a stroller getting ready to pose with Elmo. It got me thinking about how much I don’t support bringing kids to Las Vegas. I understand that there can be extenuating circumstances. I know people who could only attend a conference, wedding or other important event if they brought their child on the trip with them. I have even given suggestions for kid-friendly things to do when people have asked (sometime biting my tongue and sometimes letting them know that I think it is a bad idea). I do find it odd people still seem to think of Las Vegas as a family friendly destination. While kids are not prohibited by any means (aside from being banned from the casino floor or anywhere that they would also be prohibited in your home town), they are not encouraged in Las Vegas.
I am in the process of writing a longer post on the subject, but in the meantime I thought I would share this recent article on the subject from Vegas Seven.
