Although a date has not been set for the new rates to go into effect, the Nevada Taxicab Authority has approved a rate hike. The new rates will be:

• $3.45 for the initial drop ($0.15 increase)
• 22 cents per 1/13th of a mile (2 cent increase)
• $32.40 per hour of wait time ($2.40 increase)
• The McCarran Airport pickup fee will remain $2.00.

With the new rate, fares to Strip hotels will increase by about $1.50 and fares to downtown will increase by about $2.25.

An effective date has not been announced since it will take time to update and inspect the new meters.  My guess is that they will do their best to make the changes in time for the New Year’s crowds. You can read the LV Review-Journal article with more details here:
