2019 Book Suggestions

The beginning of the year is the best time to get the new edition of a few of my favorite guide/resource books.

The American Casino Guide has information about casinos across the United States as well as guidance on how to play many casino games. The big draw for this guide, though, is the coupon section.
At the beginning of January, I was able to turn The D $25 Matchplay and Push Your Bet on 22 into a $50 profit, more than covering the price of the book.
Those coupons are also the reason many people like myself buy the book year after year. Here is the  2019 coupon list.

Eating Las Vegas is another handy resource. The in-depth reviews and commentary are for higher end restaurants, but it has info on more accessible restaurants, too. They also include some good tips for having the best dining experience whether you are dining solo or with a group.
Most of the reviews are Strip-based, but there are local options, too.

UPDATE:
Due to COVID-19 precautions, all shows are currently cancelled. I will revise the page again once shows open, but that may not be until 2021.

The List was updated on October 7, 2020
I don’t have a new list yet. The only change with this update its the return of the High Roller comp for Diamond and Seven Stars players.

Here is the current list of monthly Tier Benefit Shows for Caesars Rewards players in Las Vegas.
There are a lot of changes this month. The Bronx Wanderers is now at Harrah’s. The new shows, Extravaganza and Iluminate have been added at Bally’s and Planet Hollywood. FRIENDS the Musical Parody is now at Paris.

Diamond and Seven Stars players get 2 free tickets per calendar month. The shows are buy 1, get 1 free for Platinum players. Brooklyn Bowl shows are Diamond / Seven Star only.

The High Roller is available again. Diamond and Seven Stars members receive free tickets, Gold and Platinum members receive buy one, get one free tickets. Visit a Caesars Rewards Center to take advantage of this benefit.

myVEGAS Overview

I’ve been playing and writing about myVEGAS since it started. It has evolved a lot over the years. While I have discussed many aspects of it, some of that info is only in the comments or is spread across multiple posts.  This is my attempt at sharing as much as possible in one post (with links to  a few existing posts with more detail).

What is myVEGAS?

myVEGAS is a family of games produced by PLAYSTUDIOS.   The games currently include myVEGAS and myKonamiSlots on Facebook as well as myVEGAS Slots, MyKonamiSlots, PopSlots and myVEGAS Blackjack for Android and iOS devices. All of these games are linked through Facebook and you need a Facebook account in order to earn Rewards.

What’s all the fuss about?

5 Money-saving Tips

I try to get the most out of every Las Vegas trip while keeping a reasonable budget (which I realize will vary from person to person). Getting offers from the casino helps, but that doesn’t cover everything . Here are my top 5 money-saving tips: Continue reading 5 Money-saving Tips

Spiegelworld’s Opium Show at Cosmopolitan

Spiegelworld, the company behind Absinthe, has opened a new , campy, space themed show called “Opium” at   the Cosmopolitan. The concept is that we (performers and audience) are on a spaceship traveling from Uranus to Las Vegas.

I really enjoyed the variety of acts.  The show includes live music, a  great hooping act, comedic juggling, a girl in the balloon act, a flashy whip trickster, a really cute balancing act with a chihuahua and a few things that are better kept as surprises.   The segues between acts were very entertaining, too. Those segues create a nice through-line for the show of otherwise random (but still good) acts. Continue reading Spiegelworld’s Opium Show at Cosmopolitan
