I’m always a little sad when a piece of Las Vegas History disappears. I was able to experience the Sahara a few times and even stayed in one of their suites. It had been on a long downward spiral before closing, though, and was a dubious low-roller choice near the end. The SLS has changed that. The basic structure (including the room footprint) is still the same, but everything else is new. The rooms are completely remodeled. The dining options are great and all of the stores are upscale.
Royal Rewards, the players club for the Plaza and the Las Vegas Club, has made a few changes. The most talked about change is that they no longer offer freeplay bonuses when you hit a royal flush on a video poker machine.
There are some other major changes, though. The point redemption rate has changed. You now get $5 in comps or freeplay for 1250 Points. In the old system it was $5 in freeplay for 1000 Points. The rate is worse, but you can now use the Points for show tickets, meals and the resort fee.

Your myVEGAS Slots chip total and myVEGAS Blackjack chip total are independent of each other. The new app has its own daily spin and 4 hour bonus chip collection. The game has its own myStrip with new challenges, too. Continue reading myVEGAS adds new Blackjack mobile game
Not too long ago if you tried to purchase a myVEGAS Reward while you were in Las Vegas, whether visiting or as a local, you would find only a handful of Rewards were available. This is changing. On a recent trip, I found that most Rewards were available. Freeplay and Comp Room Rewards were not available, but it appeared that everything else was. Even room rate discount rewards were available. The catch is that many of the prime Rewards now require at least a one night stay at an MGM resort.
